Do tents keep you warm?

I camp in the winter a good bit on hunting trips. A tent usually isnt any warmer then the outside temp but it helps a lot b/c it blocks the wind and the rain from you. If inside a tent and inside a sleeping bag then it is pretty comfortable and warm. Yes it is perfectly safe to camp outside. Build you a fire to keep warm. Just make sure its not close enough to melt the tent.
