How do I know if my ex-boyfriend wants2 get back together w/ me. He says he wants 2 b friends & someTIME ALONE

My boyfriend just broke up w/ me 4 days ago. We had a big fight over something dum. Few days before the fight his first love myspaced him & they have been talking ever since. I asked him if he would like 2 have her over f4 a bbq. He said that was not going 2 happen & that I am never going 2 meet her. I felt that he was hidding something from me & I asked him if she knows about me. He said yes she does. I didn't believe him, so I looked her up. Come to find out she is bi & doesn't. I told him what I have done & he got really mad at me & said that it was over. A night later I call him to tell him that i was sorry & that I love him with all of my heart. He said that he was sorry too that he needs to be alone. Be signle 4 awhile. He said that he knows that I love him & he loves me 2, but he needs to get his head straight. Now, he won't even say I love you back nor does he want me to say it to him. What am I to do? I love him & I don't want to lose him.
