HELP! I got an Emerson 50x100 Refractor Telescope (with Tripod 1ea) for Christmas, but everything is so blurry?

When I stand in front of my window and look through the main focal tube, I can't really see anything. It's all dark and blurry.. Am I supposed to do something to make it look more clear and precise?
